Keyword Research

Keyword research refers to a discipline that has been accepted and used in SEO management by experts to allow them to establish which search terms surfers are searching on the search engines. At its most basic level, this research involves studying the phrases that work for your audience and it is a real art. The research is one of the most efficient ways to identify niche markets that others have failed to identify. Keyword research is very critical so that the content of the pages are more attractive as much for the users as for the robots. The research is not an exact science and should not be discussed like it is.

There are numerous free keyword research tools on internet. The majority of SEO software tools include these tools as well. Yahoo, Google and other like search engines have free tools also. An ideal tool will give you the number of daily or monthly searches and contending web pages. There are even sites like “spyFu.com” that will let you see which terms are being used b your competitors.

When choosing SEO keywords it is recommended to always use at least more than a single word. Using one keyword only results in a very low rating on the search` engine results page as the search-engine spiders contains millions of web pages in the indexes which contain the same word some`where in the page.

Ensure that you place your keywords keenly. Spread your keywords through the page. In order to get a higher ranking use your main keyword or phrases in the last and first paragraphs of the content. You should also not forget to use the key-words in the titles and as well as in the concealed html tags in the webpage, and particularly the “title tag”. This will increase the likelihood of the search-engine spiders ranking your web-page higher than other similar webpages that may contain similar content but lack those key-words or key phrases positioned properly on` the web page.

The number of times the keyword appears in an article is known as keyword density. Your keyword density should be anywhere from 3% to 7%. For instance, if you were to write a 100 word article you would need to write the keyword in 7 times to achieve a 7% keyword density. Keyword research can also be defined as choosing the words which describe your service or product as seen from the viewpoint of your targeted market and is the most important step in the SEO Management process.
